Nanzoin Temple, Fukuoka, Kyushu

Happy Thursday!
I’m going to start posting some new blogs which only focus on my photography. Articles are great but time consuming and I have so many photos just sitting on my hard drive.
Anyway I’m going to try and start posting a little more regularly between writing in depth articles with some great photos.
I hope you can enjoy them.

First up we have Nanzoin Temple in Sasaguri, Fukuoka Prefecture. I visted here just last Monday. It is most famous for the giant laying Buddha. Sasaguri it is also famous for the 88 temple pilgrimage. It is a mini version of the Shikoku 88 temple walk. Sasaguri is quite close to Fukuoka city so it’s easy to get to by train.

I’m planning to do the pilgrimage over the next 6 months or so. I’ll update you all as I go. I heard you can do it in 3 days. But I suppose you gotta be pretty motivated to do that as the mountain is quite challenging. Good exercise I suppose! hahaha

  1. I was a JET in Kasuya-machi, the town right next to Sasaguri. I used to love to ride my bike to the reclining Buddha!
